Report: No Breakthrough After Barrack’s Third Visit to Beirut

U.S. special envoy Tom Barrack has concluded his latest diplomatic mission to Lebanon, and according to local sources cited by Al-Hadath, the outcome mirrors that of his previous visit — with no tangible progress achieved.

Sources in Beirut say Hezbollah continues to shift blame toward the Lebanese state, attempting to deflect accountability for the broader political and security situation. At the same time, the Lebanese government has reportedly appealed to the U.S. to meet at least one of its demands — hoping that a symbolic American gesture could strengthen Lebanon’s hand in future dealings with Hezbollah.

However, Israeli authorities have declined to offer any form of concession, reinforcing the impasse. This ongoing diplomatic stalemate, the sources warn, is contributing to a fragile environment ripe for potential military flare-ups.

“There is broad consensus,” one source noted, “that Lebanon is on the brink of entering a new phase of armed confrontation.”

No Progress, No Offers

Summing up Barrack’s latest efforts, sources described the trip as largely unproductive: “He came without new proposals and left without securing any commitments.” With tensions simmering on multiple fronts — and regional powers holding their ground — observers fear the diplomatic vacuum could soon be filled by conflict.
