Gosling’s ‘I’m Just A Ken’ set to make Oscar history

Ryan Gosling’s rendition of ‘I’m Just A Ken’ is anticipated to be a standout moment at the 2024 Oscar Awards. He has been recognized with a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role in the film Barbie, which, despite its success, has been overlooked in several key Oscar categories this year. The song ‘I’m Just A Ken’ is also up for Best Song, promising a memorable performance at the Oscars.

Gosling is set to deliver an extraordinary performance at the 96th Academy Awards, accompanied by an impressive ensemble of 65 background dancers, making it one of the most extensive performances the Oscars have ever seen.

A report by Deadline highlights the scale of Gosling’s upcoming performance, comparing it to the previous year’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ performance from the movie RRR, which also featured a large group of dancers and was performed live by Kumar Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. Raj Kapoor, an executive producer for the Academy Awards, hinted at the grandiosity of Gosling’s act, suggesting it will be both entertaining and expansive.

‘I’m Just Ken’ is among two songs from Barbie nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar, with the other being ‘What Was I Made For?’ by Billie Eilish and Finneas, which previously won a Grammy, outshining ‘I’m Just Ken’ and another Barbie track ‘Dance the Night’ by Dua Lipa. Billie Eilish is also scheduled to perform at the Oscars.

The Oscars 2024 is set to take place at the Dolby Theatres in Los Angeles on March 10, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The event will feature a range of celebrity presenters including Zendaya, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nicolas Cage, and Al Pacino. Additionally, last year’s acting winners Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis will also present, continuing the tradition of the previous year’s winners returning to the stage.
