Quintet Envoys Meet Today; Le Drian Visits Beirut Ahead of Ramadan

Today, the ambassadors from a five-country coalition will convene at Pine Residence in Beirut, as reported by al-Jadeed TV. The group is preparing for an upcoming visit by French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, scheduled to occur before Ramadan, where he will outline the desired qualifications for Lebanon’s next president.

These criteria will be determined through a series of one-on-one and three-party discussions held by the quintet’s ambassadors with various Lebanese factions. Following these discussions, the Independent Parliamentary Gathering, consisting of the Moderation and New Lebanon blocs, plans to initiate dialogue within the parliament. This process will eventually lead to Speaker Nabih Berri guiding the next steps.

Furthermore, Le Drian’s visit is part of a broader diplomatic effort, as he has recently engaged with both Egyptian and Gulf representatives. He intends to extend these diplomatic dialogues to include the United States, continuing to build international consensus on the matter.
