Iran FM: Israeli Offensive on Lebanon Spells Netanyahu’s End

Iran’s chief diplomat issued a stark warning during his visit to Beirut on Saturday amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon, particularly with the involvement of Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas, in the ongoing conflict that began on October 7 with Israel and the Palestinian militant group in Gaza. He stated that any significant Israeli assault on Lebanon would mark the downfall of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Foreign Minister of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, emphasized that Israel would not succeed in engaging in conflicts on multiple fronts, specifically pointing out Netanyahu’s challenges in navigating the situation in Gaza. This statement was made during Amir-Abdollahian’s third trip to Beirut since the hostilities commenced over four months ago.

Amir-Abdollahian’s comments came in the wake of discussions about the increasing threat of a broader conflict involving Lebanon, highlighted by France’s chief diplomat’s warnings about Israel’s potential actions to address the displacement caused by the ongoing hostilities.

Amir-Abdollahian also commented on the situation in Gaza, suggesting a shift towards a political resolution despite Netanyahu’s inclination towards military solutions. He advocated for a swift political resolution to halt Israeli aggression and war crimes against Palestinians.

During his visit, Amir-Abdollahian met with significant figures in Beirut, including the leader of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and other influential officials from Palestinian factions, emphasizing the right of the Palestinian people to determine their future without external interference.
