Hochstein Report: Two-Phase Solution for Border Conflict

U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein is proposing a two-stage resolution to the ongoing border dispute between Israel and Hezbollah, with the cessation of the Gaza conflict playing a critical role in its viability, according to a leading political figure.

In the initial stage of the plan, as disclosed to al-Joumhouria newspaper and published on Wednesday, Hezbollah along with its specialized Radwan unit would retreat beyond the Litani River’s northern boundary.

The subsequent phase entails establishing a buffer zone extending eight to ten kilometers from the border, where a contingent of 12,000 Lebanese Army troops would be stationed alongside UNIFIL forces, as per the political insider.

The informant emphasized the gravity of the ongoing discussions surrounding this plan.
