French FM Carries Israeli Proposals to Lebanon, Reports Say

French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné, who arrived in Beirut this Tuesday, is reportedly delivering a message from Israel with suggestions aimed at resolving the ongoing border conflict, according to a media report. As per the report in al-Binaa newspaper, Israel’s proposals involve urging the Lebanese government to take actions necessary to enforce Resolution 1701. This would include stopping Hezbollah’s military activities against Israel, in exchange for Israel’s commitment to refrain from extensive military operations in southern Lebanon.

The persistent cross-border hostilities have resulted in over 210 deaths in Lebanon, predominantly among Hezbollah fighters, but also including over 25 civilians. On the Israeli side, the conflict has led to the deaths of nine soldiers and six civilians, as reported by Israeli authorities.

Additionally, the conflict has forced tens of thousands of residents to flee their homes on both sides of the border. Amidst these tensions, Israel has signaled its readiness to employ military force if necessary to facilitate the return of its settlers to their homes.
