Hezbollah announced it launched missile strikes on a naval base near Haifa on Friday, marking its second attack on the area in less than a day.
According to the Lebanese group, the “Stella Maris” naval base northwest of Haifa was struck by a missile barrage in what it described as retaliation for “attacks and massacres” committed by Israel. On Thursday, Hezbollah reported carrying out a similar strike in the same area.
In a separate statement, Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for a missile attack on the Ramat David airbase, located southeast of Haifa.
Since late September, Israel has been in conflict with Hezbollah, expanding its focus from battling Hamas in Gaza to addressing security concerns along its northern border with Lebanon. Israel has since escalated its air campaign in Lebanon and deployed ground forces to the south of the country.
This intensified conflict follows a year of cross-border skirmishes with Hezbollah, which has declared its actions in support of Gaza. Since September 23, the war has resulted in more than 2,600 deaths in Lebanon, as reported by the Lebanese health ministry.
