Gallant: Truce Talks in Lebanon Must Happen ‘Under Fire’

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized on Wednesday that any negotiations aimed at ending the conflict in Lebanon must take place “under fire.” He made this statement during an assessment of the situation on the northern front.

During his meeting with commanders of the reservist 146th Division, Gallant pointed out that the recent capture of Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon highlighted both the Israeli army’s effectiveness and the challenges faced by Hezbollah, according to a statement from the Defense Ministry.

“We are gaining valuable insights through interrogation, information that we would not have otherwise obtained, and it will serve us well in the near future,” Gallant said. He also added that the ongoing ground operations will enable displaced residents of northern Israel to return to their homes.
