Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Makes Third Bail Attempt in Sex Trafficking Case

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, is currently preparing an appeal to secure his release from prison after he was denied bail twice. Court documents reveal that Shapiro has already filed a notice to appeal, with the detailed appeal brief expected to be submitted shortly.

Combs has assembled a robust defense team, including trial lawyer Anthony Ricco and appellate lawyer Shapiro, to handle his case, as reported by People magazine.

The prominent music executive was arrested on September 16 in a Manhattan hotel. By the following day, prosecutors had circulated a 14-page document detailing the charges against him, which include orchestrating multiple events referred to as “freak offs”—elaborate sexual performances, as well as accusations of drugging and sexually assaulting his victims.

Following a second bail denial on September 18, Combs is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Magistrate Judge Robyn F Tarnofsky expressed concerns about Combs’ alleged substance abuse and anger management issues, citing these as reasons for mistrusting his ability not to pose a danger to others.

Initially placed on suicide watch post-arrest, Combs is reportedly no longer under such supervision. He has received family visits while in custody and remains determined and focused on his legal defense, according to his lawyer.

Sources close to the situation told People that Combs was initially in shock over his arrest, prompting the precautionary suicide watch. His mental state at the time was described as unclear.

Combs is expected to make his next court appearance in early October.
