Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract, extending his stay in North London until 2027. Since taking charge in 2019, Arteta has led Arsenal to two consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League and returned the team to the Champions League. The three-year extension was finalized just ahead of the upcoming North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
Arteta Signs New Contract
“I’m extremely proud, excited, and eager for what’s next. I’m proud of where I am and the relationships I’ve built with everyone at the club,” Arteta shared on Arsenal’s official website.
“I feel fortunate to work every day with great people, and I’m inspired by the ambition we share here. I feel challenged, supported, and motivated to achieve even more than what we’ve accomplished so far.”
Contract Signed Ahead of North London Derby
On Sunday, Arsenal will face fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League for the first time this season. The new contract adds extra motivation as Arteta’s team aims to secure a third consecutive win against Spurs on their home turf. Arsenal defeated Tottenham late last season to stay in the title race while simultaneously denting their rivals’ top-four hopes. The Gunners also secured a victory at Tottenham’s stadium in January 2023 and are eager for another triumph this weekend.
During his time as Arsenal’s manager, Arteta has already helped the club win the FA Cup in 2020 and has been key to restoring Arsenal’s status as a major force in English and European football. The contract extension signals the club’s commitment to supporting his vision, with aspirations of winning the Premier League and making deeper progress in the Champions League.
