Indiana Jones’ Fedora Sells for $630,000 at Auction

A significant piece of Indiana Jones history has found a new owner. On August 15, a fedora worn by Harrison Ford in the 1984 film *Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom* was auctioned off for an impressive $630,000, as announced by Propstore.

This iconic fedora played a crucial role in the second film of the Indiana Jones series. It was worn by Ford during key scenes filmed in Sri Lanka, at Elstree Studios in the UK, and during river sequences in the US.

The hat also saw action with stunt performer Dean Ferrandini during the film’s raft sequences. Following Ferrandini’s death, the fedora remained in his personal collection until it was eventually put up for auction. The winning bid came with unpublished photos of Ferrandini in costume and a letter of authenticity from his wife.

This version of the fedora featured a slightly updated design compared to the hat Ford wore in *Raiders of the Lost Ark* (1981). Costume designers Anthony Powell and Joanna Johnston collaborated with hat maker Herbert Johnson to create a more tapered crown for the *Temple of Doom* version. The hat’s sweatband was also stamped with the initials “I J” in gold, a distinctive detail in the original trilogy.

The Indiana Jones fedora wasn’t the only piece of memorabilia sold at the auction. Other notable items included a motorized Batwing from the 1989 *Batman* movie, which sold for $406,250, a Ghostface costume from the original *Scream* (1996) that fetched $270,900, and a *Handbook for the Recently Deceased* prop from *Beetlejuice* (1988) that went for $34,650.
