Latest on Israel-Hezbollah Border Clashes: 13/8/2024

On Tuesday, Hezbollah targeted surveillance equipment in Misgav Am and attacked a group of soldiers stationed at the Mattat barracks in northern Israel.

In response, Israeli tanks shelled a house in the southern border town of Abbasiyyeh, while Israeli warplanes carried out raids overnight on the southern border towns of Mays al-Jabal and Marwahin.

Hezbollah has been engaging in near-daily exchanges of fire with Israel in support of Hamas since the Palestinian militant group launched an attack on Israel on October 7, sparking the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The cross-border violence since early October has resulted in at least 565 deaths in Lebanon, primarily among fighters but also including at least 116 civilians, according to an AFP report.

On the Israeli side, including the annexed Golan Heights, 22 soldiers and 26 civilians have been killed, based on military reports.

The ongoing conflict has displaced thousands of people on both sides of the border.
