Iranian Representatives Withdraw from COP28 Due to Israeli Participation

At the U.N. climate talks in the United Arab Emirates, Iranian delegates exited the conference on Friday, objecting to the participation of Israeli representatives. This decision was reported by Iranian state media.

Ali Akbar Mehrabian, the Iranian Energy Minister and leader of the Iranian delegation, was quoted by IRNA, the official news agency, stating that Israel’s involvement at COP28 was seen as contradictory to the conference’s objectives and principles. As a form of protest, the Iranian delegates chose to leave the conference venue.
