The United States has elevated its travel advisory for Lebanon to its highest “do not travel” level due to escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah following a strike in southern Beirut that killed a senior Hezbollah commander.
The advisory, issued on Wednesday, states: “Do not travel to Lebanon due to rising tensions between Hezbollah and Israel. If you are currently in Lebanon, be prepared to shelter in place if the situation worsens.” It also advises citizens in southern Lebanon or refugee camps to leave the area.
