Dream team! Nadal and Alcaraz to pair up in doubles at Paris Olympics

Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz are set to join forces in doubles at this year’s Olympic Games in Paris, as announced by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) on Wednesday, June 12.

Nadal, who won an Olympic gold medal in 2008, will be partnering with Alcaraz, who is making his Olympic debut after winning the French Open at Roland Garros on Sunday.

Although Nadal, a 14-time French Open champion, has been dealing with injuries, national team coach David Ferrer confirmed that the 38-year-old will team up with the 21-year-old Alcaraz.

“One pair, which I think everyone knows and was hoping for, is Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal,” Ferrer told reporters. “The second pair is yet to be finalized, and we’ll wait a bit before announcing that. But Rafa and Carlos will be playing together in Paris.”

Other selected players include Pablo Carreno Busta and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, with Marcel Granollers, ranked world number two in doubles, also part of the squad.

The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.
