Contacts intensify with Lebanon in bid to contain border tensions

In recent hours, Western and non-Arab countries have stepped up their diplomatic efforts with Lebanese authorities to help de-escalate the rising tensions along Lebanon’s southern border with Israel, aiming to prevent a larger clash, according to media outlets.

These diplomatic exchanges have underscored a collective wish to maintain peace and stability in Lebanon, particularly along the southern border. Additionally, there’s been a reassurance from the U.S. that Israel does not seek a conflict with Hezbollah on Lebanese soil, reported al-Joumhouria.

Lebanese officials have maintained that Lebanon is acting defensively in response to ongoing Israeli provocations, the newspaper noted.

Following a speech by Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein has been in telephone contact with various Lebanese officials, the publication mentioned.
