4 Hezbollah Members Among 71 Killed in Syria’s Palmyra

Israeli airstrikes in the Syrian city of Palmyra resulted in the deaths of 71 pro-Iran operatives, with more than a third identified as fighters from Iraq and Lebanon, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Thursday.

Among the casualties were 45 members of pro-Iran Syrian groups, 26 foreign fighters—primarily from Iraq’s Al-Nujaba movement—and four from Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

The strikes targeted three locations in Palmyra, including one site where a meeting of pro-Iranian groups, along with leaders from Al-Nujaba and Hezbollah, was taking place.

Syrian authorities reported that the Israeli attacks on Palmyra killed 36 people and injured over 50, according to the latest figures from the defense ministry.

The Syrian government stated that Israel launched an air assault from the direction of Al-Tanf, aiming at several buildings in Palmyra.

In response, the Syrian foreign ministry issued a statement condemning the attack, labeling it as a brutal Israeli aggression and asserting that it reflects ongoing Zionist crimes against the region and its people.
