White House ‘Deeply Concerned’ Over Israeli Fire on UN Peacekeepers

The White House has expressed “deep concern” following a report from the United Nations peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon that Israeli forces fired on locations where peacekeepers were stationed, injuring two of them.

In a statement on Thursday, a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council said, “We are deeply concerned about reports that Israeli forces fired on two positions and a tower used by U.N. peacekeepers in Lebanon. We immediately reached out to our Israeli counterparts to request more information.”

The statement acknowledged Israel’s ongoing operations in the region to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure that poses a threat to its citizens but emphasized that “it is crucial these actions do not compromise the safety and security of U.N. peacekeepers.”
