The UK Embassy has recently facilitated the delivery of 60 tons of spare parts and tires for Land Rovers to the Lebanese Army, with British Ambassador Hamish Cowell presiding over the ceremony at the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) Logistics Base in Kfarshima on Wednesday.
In a statement released on Thursday, the British Embassy in Beirut highlighted that this assistance, valued at £2 million, is a testament to the UK’s dedication to aiding the LAF in their ongoing efforts to ensure the nation’s stability and security.
The delivered package includes 225 engines and 737 new tires, among other crucial Land Rover spare parts, which will support the service, repair, and upkeep of more than 440 military vehicles. This contribution is aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency, mobility, and safety on the roads for the Land Border Regiments.
Ambassador Cowell expressed his pride in the UK’s support towards bolstering the resilience and readiness of the Lebanese Armed Forces. He emphasized the pivotal role of the LAF, under General Joseph Aoun’s leadership, in protecting Lebanon and its citizens amidst the current challenges, particularly the ongoing conflicts along the southern border.
He further stressed the importance of the supplied equipment for the Land Border Regiments in their mission to guard Lebanon’s borders and thwart smuggling and terrorism. Cowell reiterated the UK’s unwavering support for the LAF and its commitment to reinforcing Lebanon’s security and stability.
