Following Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Donates $100,000 to Super Bowl Parade Victims

In response to the devastating shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration parade, the team has partnered with the United Way to initiate the #KCStrong Fund. This fund is dedicated to assisting the victims and their families, while also funding initiatives aimed at preventing violence and supporting mental health services and first responders.

Travis Kelce, a prominent player for the Chiefs, has contributed significantly by matching his girlfriend, Taylor Swift’s generous donation of $100,000 to the cause. Kelce’s contribution was made through his Eighty-Seven & Running Foundation and directed to a GoFundMe campaign established by friends of the Reyes family, whose two daughters were injured in the incident. The campaign swiftly surpassed its initial goal of $100,000.

Taylor Swift’s donation was made in memory of Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, a beloved local radio host known as Lisa G on KKFI-FM’s Taste of Tejano, who was killed in the shooting. Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two and a prominent figure in the Kansas City Latinx community, was celebrated for her contributions to local culture and music. The fundraising effort in her memory has gathered over $200,000 by Friday morning to support the shooting victims.

The heartfelt contributions from Kelce, Swift, and the broader community reflect a strong sense of solidarity and care amidst the tragedy.

Furthermore, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany demonstrated their support by visiting the Reyes family in Children’s Mercy Hospital. The Reyes daughters, aged 8 and 10, represent just some of those tragically impacted by the event, which saw a total of 22 people injured, including many under the age of 16.

In the aftermath of the shooting, authorities have reported that two juveniles are facing charges related to the mass shooting incident.
