On Saturday, a man was apprehended for allegedly trying to gain unauthorized access to Taylor Swift’s apartment in the Tribeca area of New York City. The New York Police Department responded to a report of a “disorderly person” on Franklin Street. A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed that the individual had tried to open a door at this location.
The police did not disclose the identity of the man or confirm that he was attempting to enter Swift’s apartment. However, eyewitness accounts suggest that the man approached Swift’s door around 1 p.m. The same witness also noted that this individual had been spotted frequently in the vicinity of Swift’s residence over the past few weeks.
Another local resident told Page Six that they had seen the same man acting suspiciously in the area for about a month. This included behaviors like sleeping on the stoop, chain-smoking, yelling, and causing discomfort to those around. The neighbor mentioned having called the police on multiple occasions, but it was only when the man tried to break into the building that significant action was taken.
The police arrived at around 1:45 p.m. ET and after a peaceful conversation, arrested the alleged stalker. During his arrest, the man was described as having a beard and shaggy brown hair and was wearing a tan hoodie, khaki pants, a navy jacket, and tan gloves.
The arrest was reportedly made due to an active warrant unrelated to this incident. The suspect is currently in custody, as reported by Page Six.
Representatives for Taylor Swift have not yet commented on this incident.
Swift, who is still in New York City, is expected to attend her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s football game against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in upstate New York on Sunday.
This is not the first time Swift has encountered security issues. In 2019, Roger Alvarado was arrested for trying to enter her Tribeca home, and in 2022, Joshua Christian was apprehended for allegedly stalking Swift across several states.
