According to a report by al-Jadeed TV, the five-nation group dedicated to Lebanese affairs, which includes the United States, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, has reached a consensus on a presidential candidate for Lebanon. The name of this candidate is expected to be revealed in the coming days.

Al-Liwaa newspaper, in a separate report on Wednesday, mentioned that members of this quintet, particularly France and Saudi Arabia, are actively working towards finalizing an agreement on a Lebanese president before the yearโ€™s end.

Nidaa al-Watan daily further reported that a Qatari envoy, during a visit to Lebanon, suggested potential candidates for the presidency. These suggestions included former minister Nassif Hitti and the acting chief of General Security, Elias Bayssari.

The report also highlighted that Hezbollah and Speaker Nabih Berri, while hearing out these proposals, continued to support the nomination of Suleiman Franjieh. Meanwhile, Jebran Bassil, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, was reportedly not opposed to the idea of Bayssariโ€™s nomination.
