The son-in-law of the late Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli raid in Damascus on Wednesday, according to a report by an NGO.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated, “In a residential area of Damascus’s Mazze district, an Israeli raid targeted an apartment, resulting in the death of Hassan Jaafar Qassir, Nasrallah’s son-in-law, along with another Lebanese individual.” This account was corroborated by a source close to Hezbollah who spoke to AFP.
Hassan Jaafar Qassir was the brother of Ahmad Qassir, who conducted a suicide bombing in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre in 1982, killing multiple Israeli soldiers. Another brother, Mohammad Qassir, was killed in an Israeli strike in the Jnah area of Beirut on Tuesday.
According to the Israeli military, Mohammad Qassir led Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, responsible for transporting weapons from Iran to Lebanon and overseeing the development of precision-guided missiles. He was also said to have directed substantial financial resources to Hezbollah in recent years.
