Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has expressed his gratitude to Druze leader Walid Jumblat for his supportive stance on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and southern Lebanon over the past ten months, specifically highlighting Jumblat’s recent position on the rocket attack on Majdal Shams. This acknowledgment was reported by the pro-Hezbollah newspaper al-Akhbar on Tuesday.
According to al-Akhbar, Jumblat has opposed efforts to incite conflict and manipulate the incident for ulterior motives. Nasrallah’s political aide, Hussein al-Khalil, conveyed this message of thanks to former minister Ghazi Aridi, recognizing Jumblat’s Arab solidarity, patriotism, and responsible leadership during these challenging times, which, the newspaper noted, reveal the true character of individuals.
Israel has accused Hezbollah of launching the rocket that killed 12 children and teenagers in Majdal Shams, a Druze village in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Hezbollah has firmly denied these allegations.
On Sunday, Jumblat denounced Israel’s accusations against Hezbollah as “lies.” He emphasized that Majdal Shams is an Arab village and noted that most residents of the Golan Heights have rejected Israeli citizenship. Jumblat criticized Israel’s expressions of concern for the Druze Arabs in the Golan, occupied Palestine, and Lebanon as insincere, labeling them “crocodile tears.” He reaffirmed that Hezbollah is a Lebanese resistance movement and an integral part of Lebanon.
