Musk Eyes Delhi-San Francisco in Under an Hour

Elon Musk has been making waves since voicing his support for Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election. Now that Trump has won, Musk has been appointed to an advisory role in a newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

While Musk embraces his new government role, his ambitions remain focused on even grander projects, particularly his vision of colonizing Mars. He plans to use SpaceX’s Starship to transport humans to the red planet, with initial test missions already in the works.

In addition to his interplanetary goals, Musk has another bold idea for Earth: using the Starship for ultra-fast travel between cities. According to a report from Unilad Tech, these high-speed flights could reduce travel times by up to 2,200 percent.

One key route under consideration is from New York to Shanghai. Currently, this journey takes nearly 15 hours, but Musk aims to cut the travel time to just 39 minutes using the Starship. With a maximum speed of 27,000 km/h, the spacecraft has the potential to revolutionize long-distance travel, although achieving a comfortable experience for passengers at such high speeds remains a challenge.

Other routes Musk has proposed include:

  • London to New York: 29 minutes
  • Paris to New York: 30 minutes
  • Delhi to San Francisco: 40 minutes

Responding to a mock video showcasing the concept of superfast flights on social media, Musk confirmed that such technology is now within reach, stating, “This is now possible.”

In his advisory role at DOGE, Musk is tasked with reducing government expenses. His net worth has surged by over $26 billion in recent months, and he plans to leverage this new position to influence cost-cutting measures in the Trump administration. Speaking at an event at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, Trump joked about Musk’s frequent presence at the club, calling him an ever-present figure.

Meanwhile, Musk continues to pursue his Mars ambitions. Within the next two years, he plans to launch an uncrewed Starship to the red planet as a test mission. If successful, he hopes to send humans to Mars within four years, moving closer to his dream of making humanity a multi-planetary species.
