Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has recently been in the news for negative reasons after he missed the team’s FA Cup game against Newport County on Sunday, January 28. Rashford, who had called in sick for the match, has admitted his mistake following reports that he was seen partying at a nightclub on Thursday. Manchester United has addressed this as an internal issue, stating that it has been resolved and the matter is now closed.
The club released a short statement regarding the incident, confirming that Rashford acknowledged his wrongdoing and that they have handled it internally, considering the issue now concluded.
The team had a day off on Thursday as their next match was scheduled for Sunday against Newport County, who play in the fourth tier of English football. However, Rashford was spotted enjoying himself in Belfast on both Wednesday and Thursday night, and images of him at the party were circulated. His absence from training on Friday did not sit well with the club and manager Erik ten Hag.
Despite being in a condition to participate in Sunday’s FA Cup match, Rashford was omitted from the squad.
Rashford has since accepted full responsibility for his actions, and the club has taken the necessary disciplinary steps. This incident, although serious, is not as significant as Jadon Sancho’s previous disciplinary issues at Manchester United, and is already considered a closed matter.
