According to reports, Lebanon has been requested to get ready for discussions regarding its southern border

French sources have indicated that Lebanon must gear up for imminent negotiations concerning Resolution 1701, emphasizing that the current presidential void in the country cannot persist. These discussions, soon to be initiated, will focus on the situation in Lebanon’s south, the land border, and the implications of Resolution 1701, as reported by Annahar newspaper.

Further, in comments to the al-Liwaa daily, the same French sources mentioned that the forthcoming talks about Gaza’s future would also involve southern Lebanon. This development underscores the necessity for Lebanon to elect a new president, ensuring the country’s preparedness for these critical negotiations.

In a related development, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant received a call from U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. During the conversation, Austin reiterated the United States’ stance, expressing the desire to prevent the conflict in Gaza from extending into Lebanon.
