Kane’s hat-trick stuns Mainz as Bayern crush 8-1

Harry Kane’s hat-trick propelled Bayern Munich to an overwhelming 8-1 victory over Mainz 05 this Saturday, breaking a Bundesliga record as Bayern narrowed their distance to the league leaders Bayer Leverkusen to just seven points.

Having transferred from Tottenham Hotspur for a record-breaking fee of 100 million euros this season, Kane achieved a unique milestone by being the first to score two or more goals in eight separate matches during his inaugural Bundesliga season. This feat also allowed him to match Uwe Seeler’s record for the highest number of goals scored in a debut Bundesliga season, bringing his total to 30 goals.

Kane’s performance was hot on the heels of his two-goal contribution in Bayern’s 3-0 Champions League victory against Lazio, securing their spot in the quarter-finals.

Currently, Bayern Munich holds the second spot in the league with 57 points, closely following Leverkusen, which is scheduled to play against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday.

Kane’s scoring spree began in the 13th minute, laying the foundation for a crucial win to keep Bayern’s title hopes alive amidst a recent dip in form, with just one win in their last four league matches. Leon Goretzka soon added another goal, following Kane’s initial attempt that rebounded off the post.

Although Mainz managed to score through Nadiem Amiri’s impressive free-kick and seemed to be in contention for more, Kane reasserted Bayern’s dominance with a goal during the first-half stoppage time.

Bayern continued their assault on Mainz in the second half, with Thomas Mueller quickly adding to the scoreline. As Mainz’s defense faltered, Bayern’s aggressive push resulted in goals from Jamal Musiala and an inventive backheel from substitute Serge Gnabry.

Kane sealed his hat-trick by heading in a rebound, and Goretzka’s header in the final moments of the game rounded off a comprehensive win for Bayern.
