Harry Kane, currently playing for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, has surpassed his personal record for the most goals in a season by scoring 42 goals across all competitions during the 2023-24 season. This milestone was reached after he scored two goals against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, April 28.
Previously, Kane’s best was 41 goals during the 2017-18 season while he was with Tottenham Hotspur. That year, he scored 30 goals in the Premier League, seven in the Champions League, and the remainder in other competitions.
This season, Kane has netted 35 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches and seven in the Champions League, bringing him close to breaking Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 Bundesliga goals in a single season. Kane expressed optimism about reaching this record, noting it was within reach if he could score several goals in the upcoming week.
Despite Kane’s personal success, it has been a challenging season for Bayern Munich. For the first time in 12 years, they did not win the Bundesliga and suffered an embarrassing loss to third-tier Saarbrucken in the third round of the German Cup.
Bayern’s remaining chance for a trophy lies in the Champions League, where they recently defeated Arsenal in the quarterfinals. They are set to face Real Madrid in the first leg of the semifinals on Tuesday, April 30. Kane is eager to make a significant impact in his debut season in Germany.
Kane transferred to Bayern from Tottenham at the beginning of the season, after 12 seasons and 213 goals in 320 Premier League matches with Spurs, making him the second-highest scorer in the league behind Alan Shearer’s 260 goals.
