Israel’s military: 99% of Iran’s rockets intercepted

On Sunday, the Israeli military reported that nearly all of the over 300 projectiles fired at Israel by Iran were successfully intercepted, with a “99%” success rate according to IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

Only a minimal number of ballistic missiles managed to penetrate Israel’s defenses. Rear Admiral Hagari detailed that the Israeli Air Force and its allies intercepted approximately 170 drones, over 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles. The few ballistic missiles that did hit Israeli soil impacted the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel, causing only minor structural damage. Despite this, the airbase remained operational, continuing its normal flight operations.

Hagari also noted that some of the missiles launched at Israel originated from Iraq and Yemen. In a reassuring development, US President Joe Biden communicated to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the minimal impact of Iran’s attack should be seen as a demonstration of Israel’s formidable military strength. This sentiment was underscored by the successful US military intervention, where American forces intercepted more than 70 attack drones and at least three ballistic missiles aimed at Israel, as reported by US officials.
