Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu States He Will Not Step Down from His Position

On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, amidst growing criticism for his handling of the situation following the October 7 attacks, firmly stated in a press conference that he has no intention of resigning. Facing questions about his accountability, Netanyahu focused on his commitment to confronting Hamas, rather than stepping down from his role.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza and the situation with hostages held by Hamas are contributing to a shift in public opinion against Netanyahu. Despite the war’s broad support in Israel, opinion polls indicate a decline in national favor towards Netanyahu and his governing coalition.

Netanyahu emphasized during the conference that the conflict with Hamas is expected to extend for several more months. He reiterated his strategic stance: to continue the fight until their objectives, particularly the defeat of Hamas and the release of all hostages, are achieved. He also highlighted the Israeli military’s robust approach, using new tactics both above and below ground, and claimed a tactical advantage over Hamas, including the elimination of a significant number of terrorists.

However, CNN has noted that it cannot independently verify the casualty figures provided by the Israel Defense Forces or Hamas, owing to the challenges in accessing the region and the complexities in confirming accurate numbers during the ongoing conflict.
