The Israeli military reported that Hezbollah had been planning a “wide attack” on targets in both northern and central Israel, but their efforts were thwarted, according to spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani.
Shoshani stated that while Hezbollah mainly focused on targets in northern Israel, they also had plans for attacks in central Israel, which were prevented by Israel’s preemptive strikes earlier in the day.
Israel launched these preemptive strikes on Hezbollah to prevent what they believed was an imminent major attack. In response, Hezbollah claimed that their operations so far had been a “complete success.”
Regarding the strikes in Lebanon, Shoshani mentioned that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) concentrated their efforts on southern Lebanon, where there is a “large concentration of rocket launchers.” According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, at least three people were killed in the strikes.
The Israeli military also stated that they were not aware of any significant impacts on military bases or targets in central Israel following the strikes. The IDF told CNN that the rocket attack caused “very little damage.” However, images from northern Israel show some damage to homes in the municipality of Acre.
