Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has formally communicated with the United Nations Security Council, expressing concerns over Iran’s alleged weapon transfers to Hezbollah, a move he claims contravenes Resolution 1701, as reported by Israel’s Channel 12.
In his communication, Katz accuses Iran of facilitating weapon transfers through various routes including land, sea, and air. He elaborates on the journey of these weapons, stating they are initially moved from Iran to Iraq, thereafter smuggled into Syria, and finally making their way across the border into Lebanon. To substantiate his assertions, Katz has supplied the United Nations with precise dates on which these transfers reportedly occurred.
Katz urges the Security Council to demand that the Lebanese government adhere strictly to its obligations by preventing assaults on Israel from its domain, ensuring the region extending to the Litani River remains devoid of any military installations, assets, or weaponry.
Furthermore, Katz emphasizes Israel’s unwavering stance on its right to undertake necessary actions within the bounds of international law to safeguard its citizens against what he describes as egregious violations.
