An Israeli drone targeted a vehicle in the south, while Hezbollah launched an attack on Israeli base in Safad

An Israeli drone struck a car in the southern town of al-Ghandouriyeh, over 13 kilometers from the border, coinciding with U.S. diplomat Antony Blinken’s arrival in Tel Aviv for a regional tour aimed at preventing further regional escalation. The drone launched two missiles at the vehicle, followed by a third missile to hinder ambulance access, according to LBCI. This attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of three Hezbollah members.

This incident follows the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander on Monday, who was targeted by an Israeli airstrike in Kherbet Selem in southern Lebanon. In a related development, Hezbollah attacked an Israeli post at al-Malkia, and Israeli artillery responded with shelling in areas including al-Hamams hill, Aitaroun, Wadi Slouki, Houla, and Mays al-Jabal. Israeli warplanes also conducted strikes in Kfarkila.

These events, including the recent killing of Hezbollah’s Wissam Tawil and Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut, have heightened concerns about the conflict spreading. In response to Arouri’s killing, Nasrallah of Hezbollah had warned of immediate retaliation. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an attack on an Israeli air control base and also launched suicide drone attacks on the Israeli army’s northern region headquarters in Safad, citing these as responses to the killings of Arouri and Tawil.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell met with Mohammed Raad, leader of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, in Beirut as part of efforts to prevent Lebanon’s involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Raad’s son was among six Hezbollah members killed in an Israeli strike in south Lebanon previously.

The ongoing violence has resulted in over 180 deaths in Lebanon, including more than 135 Hezbollah fighters and over 20 civilians, as well as the deaths of nine soldiers and at least four civilians in northern Israel.
