The Wafa news agency has reported that Israeli officials are preparing to transfer 20 Palestinian patients from hospitals in occupied East Jerusalem back to the Gaza Strip.
According to information from the Israeli advocacy organization, Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHRI), the patients, along with their caretakers, are scheduled to be sent back to Gaza later today.
Among these individuals are two cancer patients and a person who recently underwent open heart surgery. PHRI has expressed concerns that these patients will face significant health risks upon their return due to the inadequate medical facilities and the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
PHRI criticized the decision to repatriate these patients, stating it as medically, legally, and morally inappropriate. The organization highlighted that the move contradicts the essential healthcare principle of ensuring continuous and adequate treatment, thereby endangering the patients’ health and violating their rights to consistent care.
