On Tuesday, Israeli forces conducted artillery fire near Aita al-Shaab, a border town in southern Lebanon, breaking the relative peace in the area.
Although Lebanon and Hezbollah are not formally part of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the truce had temporarily halted the usual cycle of rocket fire, artillery barrages, and airstrikes.
Throughout the four-day ceasefire, there were sporadic instances of Israeli shelling and the continuous presence of Israeli surveillance drones, disrupting the calm.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in the deaths of 109 people in Lebanon, including a minimum of 77 Hezbollah fighters and 14 civilians. This has led to over 55,000 people evacuating their homes.
On the Israeli side, the conflict has claimed the lives of six soldiers and three civilians.
Hamas and Israel have agreed to prolong their ceasefire until Wednesday, with plans for two more hostage exchanges. However, Israel has stated its intention to restart the conflict if it becomes apparent that no additional hostages will be released according to the current terms of the agreement.
