Iran’s foreign minister stated on Friday that Tehran will not engage in diplomatic discussions with the United States while Israeli military operations against Iran persist. His comments were made during a televised interview broadcast on state media, underscoring growing hostilities and a hardened stance against Western outreach.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that while the United States has continued to send messages proposing serious dialogue, Iran has firmly responded that no diplomatic path will be pursued unless Israeli aggression ceases. Araghchi reaffirmed that the continuation of attacks eliminates the possibility of negotiations. His remarks came ahead of scheduled discussions with European officials in Geneva, where broader regional developments and nuclear-related matters were expected to be on the agenda.
Missile Sirens and Rising Security Alerts in Israel
On the same day, tensions on the ground escalated as Israel’s military reported missile alerts across its southern region. According to Israeli defense forces, sirens were activated following the detection of projectiles fired from Iranian territory.
The army confirmed it had launched defensive measures aimed at intercepting the incoming missiles. Although no immediate casualties or damages were reported at the time, the development reflects a deepening conflict with the potential for wider regional involvement.
This latest exchange follows several days of mounting military pressure between Israel and Iran. Israeli operations targeting Iranian positions in Syria and alleged Iranian assets across the region have drawn retaliatory threats and direct responses from Tehran. With both sides maintaining firm positions, the possibility of diplomatic de-escalation appears limited in the short term.
