The White House has confirmed that it aligns with Israeli intelligence in assessing that Iran could potentially launch an attack on Israel as early as this week.
John Kirby, the U.S. National Security spokesperson, informed reporters on Monday that while it remains challenging to predict the exact nature of any potential attack by Iran or its proxies, the U.S. and its allies are bracing for what could be a “significant set of attacks.”
This development follows the Pentagon’s decision to reinforce the U.S. military presence in the Middle East. Additionally, President Biden held discussions on Monday morning with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom to coordinate their response to the escalating tensions in the region.
Kirby reassured that President Biden is confident in the U.S.’s ability to defend Israel if necessary, though he emphasized that “nobody wants to see it come to that.”
Kirby also noted that the assessment regarding the potential timing of the attack this week is shared by both the U.S. and Israel.
