Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has voiced serious concerns about the stability of the Middle East in light of Iran’s recent assault on Israel.
Baerbock, in a Sunday statement, remarked, “The Iranian regime has consciously pushed the Middle East to the brink of disaster.” She credited Israel’s sophisticated air defense systems and the support of international allies for averting a regional catastrophe. She also noted that global condemnation of the attack highlights Iran’s isolation due to its aggressive actions, contrasting with the acknowledged strength of Israel’s defense capabilities.
Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk discussed the broader implications for security, stating that although the conflict poses no immediate threat to Poland, it underscores that the world is teetering on the edge of significant turmoil. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust military and a stable international stance in response.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez echoed a similar sentiment, noting that global leaders have consistently advocated for caution and responsibility after the attack. He reiterated Spain’s firm stance against any form of violence that compromises the safety of innocent civilians.
In the UK, Foreign Minister David Cameron expressed strong disapproval of the Iranian offensive. During a conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Amir-Abdollahian, Cameron unequivocally condemned the attack, urging Iran to halt its aggressive actions, de-escalate tensions, and release the detained cargo ship, MSC Aries. He shared details of this exchange on social media, underscoring the UK’s firm position on the matter.
