Hezbollah declared launching new rocket volleys across the border on Wednesday following an Israeli airstrike that resulted in the deaths of two civilians.
Simultaneously, the Israeli military reported targeting 40 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, conducting 14 airstrikes near Aita al-Shaab and Ramia.
According to the Israeli army’s statement, they struck approximately 40 Hezbollah “terror targets,” including weapon storage facilities and armaments, around Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah had previously launched rockets at northern Israel late Tuesday in retaliation for the deaths of the two civilians—a woman and her niece—in southern Lebanon.
The group intensified its rocket attacks on Israeli military positions in recent days amid ongoing clashes with the Israeli army since the onset of the conflict in Gaza.
Hezbollah stated that its fighters fired “dozens of Katyusha rockets” at Shomera and targeted Israeli soldiers in Avivim and Netu’a, citing retaliation for Israeli strikes on civilian homes in Hanin.
On Tuesday, an Israeli strike on a house in Hanin led to the deaths of a woman in her fifties and a girl from the same family, as reported by rescue teams.
Hezbollah continued its actions on Wednesday, targeting the al-Raheb post in northern Israel while Israeli artillery and tanks shelled the outskirts of Ramia, Beit Leef, and Alma al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.
Israeli warplanes conducted overnight strikes on the southern towns of Houla and Rab Tlatine.
As per an AFP tally, since October 7, at least 380 people have been killed in Lebanon, including mostly Hezbollah fighters and 72 civilians. Israel has reported 11 soldiers and eight civilians killed on its side of the border.
