Hezbollah firmly rejected a recent news report suggesting their involvement in upcoming border negotiations with Israel, emphasizing that such discussions are solely the prerogative of the Lebanese government.
In a statement responding to an article in the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper, Hezbollah criticized the publication for releasing what it deemed a false and offensive report. The article claimed to cover the topic of indirect talks regarding the land border between Lebanon and what the newspaper referred to as “occupied Palestine.”
Hezbollah clarified in their statement that the responsibility for any indirect negotiations lies entirely with the Lebanese state. They categorically dismissed the claims made in the Nidaa al-Watan report as unfounded.
The newspaper’s article had cited diplomatic sources, alleging that the United States had been informed through channels of communication with Beirut that Hezbollah had withdrawn its approval for Speaker Nabih Berri and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to represent Hezbollah in negotiations concerning the border.
