On Sunday, Hezbollah escalated its offensive against Israeli military sites, a marked increase in aggression from recent days. This upsurge came just hours ahead of a speech by Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, which was to commemorate a week since Israel’s killing of Wissam Tawil, a high-ranking official in Hezbollah’s military.
Hezbollah issued a statement claiming responsibility for an attack on an Israeli unit in the Kfar Yuval region, located in northern Israel. This assault resulted in several casualties and injuries.
Furthermore, Hezbollah disclosed that it had targeted a minimum of five additional Israeli positions.
In response, Israel launched two airstrikes targeting the al-Labbouneh area, situated south of Naqoura, a border town. Additionally, Israeli artillery bombarded various locations in southern Lebanon, including al-Qawzah, Beit Leef, Marwahin, Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, Houla, Tayr Harfa, Khiam, Mays al-Jabal, Kfarkela, Ramia, and al-Jibbain.
The ongoing conflict along the border since October 8 has led to the death of 190 individuals in Lebanon. This number includes over 140 Hezbollah militants, more than 20 civilians, and three journalists. On the Israeli side, particularly in the northern region, the hostilities have resulted in the deaths of at least nine soldiers and four civilians, as reported by Israeli officials.
