Hezbollah targeted the Bayyad Blida post in northern Israel on Thursday, as Israeli forces continued to bomb southern Lebanese villages. Israeli warplanes carried out raids on the outskirts of Yaroun and struck a house in Maroun al-Rass, while artillery fire hit areas near Alma al-Shaab.
These clashes coincide with a visit to Lebanon by Josep Borrell, the European Union’s top diplomat, who is attempting to prevent further escalation of the Gaza war.
Since the cross-border violence began on October 8, around 617 people have been killed in Lebanon, including 138 civilians, with the rest being fighters. On the Israeli side, authorities, including those in the annexed Golan Heights, have reported the deaths of at least 24 soldiers and 26 civilians.
The ongoing fighting has displaced tens of thousands of residents from both Lebanon and Israel. Israel has consistently vowed to take action, whether through war or diplomacy, to ensure the return of its citizens.
