Hezbollah Drone Attack Wounds Two Soldiers in Northern Israel

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a drone attack early Monday on northern Israel, which the Israeli military reported resulted in injuries to two soldiers and sparked a fire.

This escalation in violence comes amid growing concerns of a broader regional conflict following the recent assassinations of a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon and the top political leader of Hamas in Iran.

In its statement, Hezbollah said the attack targeted a military base in northern Israel as retaliation for “attacks and assassinations” conducted by Israel in several southern Lebanese villages.

The Israeli military confirmed the incident, noting that fire services were working to extinguish a blaze caused by the attack in Ayelet HaShahar, located in the upper Galilee.

For the past 10 months, Israel and Hezbollah have engaged in near-daily exchanges of fire against the backdrop of the Gaza conflict. However, these hostilities had not escalated into full-scale war until now.

The recent killings of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukur in Beirut have significantly heightened tensions in the region. Israel has been on high alert, anticipating potential retaliation from Iran and its allied militias.
