According to a report, Hezbollah continues to reject the idea of a ‘third choice’ candidate for the presidency

The proposal to elect a “third” presidential candidate, as an alternative to Suleiman Franjieh and Jihad Azour, continues to face opposition from Hezbollah, with no signs of an imminent presidential election, as reported by the media.

According to Nidaa al-Watan newspaper, Hezbollah maintains a firm stance, presenting a choice to the Lebanese, the French, and various international diplomats: either elect its preferred candidate or face the absence of presidential elections.

The report further suggests that Hezbollah believes there is still time to consider a third candidate, hoping that the ongoing war might eventually turn the tide in its favor. It is noted that the internal power dynamics in Lebanon, which were in place before October 7, have not shifted and are unlikely to change in the aftermath of that date.
