Hezbollah stated on Monday that, despite Israel’s cross-border ground operations that began in September, the Israeli military has not succeeded in capturing even one village in Lebanon. Speaking from Beirut’s southern suburbs, which have faced heavy Israeli airstrikes, Hezbollah spokesperson Mohammad Afif claimed the Israeli forces have been ineffective, even after 45 days of intense fighting.
Afif dismissed reports suggesting a significant reduction in Hezbollah’s missile supplies, calling them false. He also addressed accusations that Hezbollah had criticized the Lebanese Army, indirectly referring to the Lebanese Forces and their allies, by emphasizing that attempts to create divisions between the army and Hezbollah’s resistance efforts would not succeed.
Afif argued that Israel would not secure victory through air superiority, bombings, or attacks on civilians, including women and children. While acknowledging the heavy toll of the conflict, he urged patience, asserting that such endurance is necessary for eventual victory.
Addressing speculation about diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, Afif noted significant political discussions involving Tehran, Washington, and Moscow, but said that Lebanon has not received any formal proposals for ending the hostilities. According to him, the increased diplomatic attention is a result of Hezbollah fighters’ resilience on the front lines.
