Watch: Elon Musk Answers to Trump’s Cabinet Offer

Former US President Donald Trump has expressed interest in appointing Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to a high-profile role should he win another term in office. In a discussion with Reuters on Monday, Trump revealed his consideration of Musk for a potential Cabinet position or as an advisor, following a campaign event in York, Pennsylvania.

“I would tap Musk for such a position if he would do it,” Trump stated to Reuters.

Elon Musk acknowledged Trump’s proposal on his social media platform X, expressing his readiness to contribute: “I am willing to serve,” Musk posted.

However, it’s important to note that Trump’s favor towards Musk might be influenced by his views on policies that affect the electric vehicle industry. Specifically, Trump has critiqued the $7,500 tax credit for new electric vehicles, a benefit from which Tesla has profited significantly.

“Tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a very good thing,” Trump remarked, suggesting potential changes to these policies.
