ECB Eases Lifetime Ban on Ex-New Zealand Cricketer Lou Vincent

Lou Vincent, a former New Zealand cricketer, is now eligible to play domestic cricket and at lower levels after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) amended the lifetime ban initially imposed on him for corruption in 2014.

The ECB’s Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) announced this revision on Friday, stating that the decision came after thorough consideration of Vincent’s situation and consultation with various cricket stakeholders, including the International Cricket Council, New Zealand Cricket, and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Vincent, a right-handed batter, was initially banned for life by the ECB, which barred him from playing, entering cricket grounds, or coaching professionally. The revision follows Vincent’s application for reconsideration in August of this year, which was reviewed and approved by Gerard Elias CBE KC on behalf of the CDC.

Expressing his gratitude for the second chance, Vincent acknowledged his past mistake and its lifelong repercussions. He conveyed his deep regret and appreciation for the opportunity to return to cricket. He also thanked the ECB, the CDC, Gerard Elias CBE KC, the ICC, NZC, the NZCPA, and other organizations that supported him. Additionally, Vincent expressed his gratitude to his lawyer, Chris Morris, for his enduring guidance and support.
