Sean “Diddy” Combs is making efforts to secure his release from jail. After being denied bail twice, he has applied for a third time and is now requesting that the identities of his accusers be revealed. Through his legal team, the rapper is seeking the names of individuals who have accused him in sex trafficking cases.
In a letter to a Manhattan federal court judge, Diddy’s lawyers argued that knowing the names of the alleged victims is essential for preparing his defense ahead of his trial, which is set for May 5, 2025.
What Diddy’s lawyers are asking the judge
The letter, signed by his attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, states, “This case is unique, in part due to the number of individuals making allegations against Mr. Combs because of his celebrity, wealth, and the publicity from his previously settled lawsuit and grand jury leaks, as highlighted in our earlier motion.”
They further claimed, “This has caused a ripple effect, leading to a flood of allegations by unidentified individuals, ranging from false to outright absurd.”
The letter also referenced six new lawsuits filed anonymously, including one involving a minor. “The attorney for these accusers held a press conference claiming to represent 120 individuals making extreme and damaging allegations, including violent sexual assault and abuse of minors. This was broadcast on Instagram and included a ‘1-800’ hotline that reportedly received 12,000 calls in the first 24 hours,” the letter noted.
The lawyers continued, stating, “These accusations follow more than a dozen pending lawsuits, several of which have already been discredited but have nonetheless tarnished Mr. Combs’ reputation. The media frenzy around these claims threatens to undermine Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial.”
The beginning: Cassie’s accusations against Diddy
Diddy has faced a wave of allegations since his former partner Cassie Ventura accused him of sexual violence. She claimed he subjected her to more than a decade of physical coercion, forced drug use, and a 2018 rape. The case was settled privately within 24 hours.
