Another former James Bond actor has expressed his support for Aaron Taylor-Johnson potentially taking on the role of the next 007 spy, and this time it’s none other than Pierce Brosnan.
During a radio show interview, Pierce Brosnan shared his thoughts on the rumors surrounding Aaron’s candidacy for the next James Bond, stating, “I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so.”
Brosnan, who himself portrayed James Bond in four films—GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day—speaks from experience, having previously worked with Aaron Taylor-Johnson on the 2009 film The Greatest, which was produced by Brosnan’s company Irish DreamTime.
Recalling their collaboration, Brosnan remarked, “One of the first movies we made, one of the earliest movies, was ‘The Greatest’. And he was the greatest in it.”
He further added, “So, yes, I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond, so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow.”
This endorsement from Brosnan echoes similar sentiments expressed by another former James Bond actor, George Lazenby, who portrayed the iconic role in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Lazenby also voiced his support for Aaron, urging him to do justice to the character and reinvent it to fit his own style.
Reports within the industry suggest that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is under consideration for the role of James Bond, following in the footsteps of the last star in the role, Daniel Craig.
When asked about his potential involvement, Aaron remained cryptic, stating, “I can only really talk about the things I’m going to show and tell. I don’t feel like I need to have a future drawn out for me. I feel like: whatever’s drawn out for me, I can fu*****’ do better.”
